Winner of $5,000 towards a National Science Week 2010 event
A big thank you to those individuals and organisations who were able to lodge an Event Report by 9 September. These were included in the draw for $5,000 towards a DIISR-approved SWk event in 2010. The comments and feedback that you shared with us was invaluable for both our evaluation of SWk activity to date, and for our proposals for the future direction of the program.
93 Event Reports were received, and we're pleased to announce that Capalaba State School in Queensland were the lucky winners, with an event entitled 'Fantastic Flight Festival'. To quote their report, the event provided "a week of pedagogically rich science activities, displays and presentations to instil a love for science and the knowledge and understanding of flight". Although school-based, the activities included members of the general public and specific community groups, and provided a great example of the amazing outcomes possible with in-kind community partnerships.
Congratulations to Karen Harris and the team at Capalaba State School! We look forward to working with you to develop an exciting event for SWk 2010.
