Registering your event
Registering your event is vital for National Science Week. Last year we had over 1000 events taking place all over our Australia. Once your 2010 events are planned and organised please put details up on this web site for everyone to share.
There are a few simple steps that you need to follow to ensure a successful registration of your event.
Registering as an event author
First you will need to create an account to register your event(s) - this will allow you to enter your event details, submit the event to the Science Week team for publishing, and come back later if you need to edit your event.
- Click on the large orange 'Register Your Event' button on the home page.
- Below the 'Register to create and edit events' heading there is a link to create an account.
- You will be asked to create a user name and a password for your account.
- Passwords need to have at least 7 characters and include a symbol such as ! or @.
- Fill in the fields and enter the special visual code shown to prove you are a real person.
- Click on 'Create User' to make an account.
- You should see a confirmation of your successful registration and can click on 'Continue' to be taken back to the home page.
- You should now be logged on to the web site - the top right of the home page will say 'Welcome username' when you are logged in.
Registering an Event
- Sign in to the website by using the "sign in" link on the top right of the home page.
- When you are logged in the top right of the home page will say 'Welcome username'.
- Click on 'Register Your Event' on the map on the front page - this will take you to the event registration form.
- Have an image ready to upload to ensure your event stands out (it needs to be a jpg, png or gif and less than 1MB in size).
- Enter your event details
- Check the Google map address to ensure the location of your event is clearly identified. Some venue addresses are initially incorrectly recognised. In this case:
- remove all of the entered address details
- enter the suburb and then click outside of the box in another field box
- the map on the bottom of the page should now show this suburb, and your state should be automatically added to the form
- now add your street address using the suggested format and then click outside of the box
- the Google map should now display the correct location
If you need to pause during entering event details you can click on 'Save'.
To return and edit a saved event
- Click on 'Welcome username' on the home page and select 'Manage registered events' from the drop down menu.
- A blue page with a listing of events will appear.
- The list of the events should show any you have saved or submitted.
- Click on the event name and then click on Edit Item to continue editing.
- When all your details are completed, click 'Submit for Approval'.
Final Approval
After all your details are correct, please click 'Submit for Approval'. Notification will be sent to the National Science Week team that your event is ready to check.
The approval process is currently taking approximately 5 working days.
To check on the status of your event registrations
You can check on the status of your events in the approval process by looking at your list of events retrieved from 'Manage registered events' (see step 2 above).
