2010: Big Blog Theory
In the lead up to National Science Week 2010, a competition was run to find Australia's best science blogger.
You, the public, were asked to nominate your favorite science blogger from which ten finalists were chosen by a panel of expert judges. You then voted on your favourite finalist to determine the winner.
The overall winner of The Big Blog Theory was Bec Crew whose blog Save Your Breath for Running Ponies received the most votes. As part of her prize, Bec attended events in Sydney and Melbourne and blogged about some of her favourites.
Special thanks to our judges Wilson da Silva, Kristin Alford, Jesse Shore and Daniel Keogh, to Huawai Australia for supplying prizes for our winners, and everyone who nominated and voted.

2009: Hello From Earth
In 2009 Cosmos Magazine ran Hello From Earth during National Science Week to talk to the stars! SMS messages were collated and transmitted through space to Gliese 581d, a planet outside our Solar System which may support life. We had 25 878 messages submitted and great interest from all around the world. The project won Best Digital Engagement Strategy at the Publishers Australia Excellence Awards – Bell ’09.
