In accordance with the Guidelines for Federal and ACT Government Websites issued by the Australian Privacy Commissioner (now the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner), the Department of Innovation provides the following privacy statements:
Site visit data
Our server makes a record of your visit and logs the following information for statistical purposes: the user's server address and top level domain name (eg. .com, .gov, .au, .uk etc.), the date and time of the visit to the site, the pages accessed and documents downloaded, the previous site visited and the type of browser used.
No attempt will be made to identify users or their browsing activities except, in the unlikely event of an investigation, where a law enforcement agency may exercise a warrant to inspect the server’s logs.
Cookies
The National Science Week web site website uses cookies. The site may not work for registered users who are adding events to the calendar and who have disabled cookies in their browser. Cookie information is not kept or forwarded to any other organisation. Users may have complete confidence that the Department of Innovation respects our visitor's privacy and confidentiality.
E-mail management and collection of personal information
We will only record your e-mail address if you send us a message. It will only be used for the purpose for which you have provided it and will not be added to a mailing list if that was not the reason for which it was provided. We will not use your e-mail address for any other purpose, and will not disclose it, without your consent.

- Upload files that contain viruses, Trojan horses, worms, time bombs, cancelbots, corrupted files, or any other similar software or programs that may damage the operation of another's computer or property of another.
Department of Innovation reserves the right at all times to disclose any information as Department of Innovation deems necessary to satisfy any applicable law, regulation, legal process or governmental request, or to edit, refuse to post or to remove any information or materials, in whole or in part, in the Department of Innovation's sole discretion.
Materials Provided to Department of Innovation or Posted to the Website
