State/Territory Coordinating Committees (CCs)

Structure

A Coordinating Committee is made up of an elected Chairman and voluntary members. A CC is open to any volunteer who wishes to attend and positively contribute to the delivery and ongoing expansion of National Science Week.

Roles and Responsibilities

The role of the CC is to coordinate state or territory activity in, and promotion of, National Science Week.  The state or territory CC will be responsible for:

·        outlining a National Science Week strategy for their state/territory;

·        providing a central point of contact for event holders, science organisations, schools and media leading up to and during National Science Week, including the appointment of a National Science Week media spokesperson to be available for media interviews;

·        convening an open meeting for potential event holders at a time to be arranged in consultation with DIISR;

·        distributing CC funding in accordance with the stated strategy;

·        providing an annual report, including a financial report, which complies with the format requested by the Manager of CSIRO Education;

·        arranging for its chairman to attend, through a rotational arrangement, meetings of the MC; and

·        nominating two representatives to attend the national meeting.

In accordance with the overall aims and objectives of National Science Week, each CC will develop a strategy for increasing the profile and reach of National Science Week within their particular state or territory, and implement it within means available. This strategy will be developed in consultation with CSIRO Education and DIISR.
