2010 Grants are announced!

National Science Week Grants are available to individuals and organisations interested in delivering a science event or activity for their local community. Late in 2009 116 applications were received for a variety of proposed National Science Week activities and events in August 2010. As announced in early October, there is $500,000 in funding to support events and activities planned for 2010.

Eligible applications have been assessed by an independent committee and today a group of successful applications has been jointly announced by the Prime Minister and the Minister for Innovation, Industry, Science and Research.

A wide range of projects have received grant funding for activities in every state and territory, including a modern forensics display, a science rock cabaret and a biodiversity study.  A full list of the successful projects has been released including project descriptions.

Many more events happen during National Science Week in addition to these grant supported activities. Support, assistance and guidance for National Science Week events (including events which do not have a 2010 Grant) is also available from the State and Territory Coordinating Committees and potential event holders are encouraged to get in contact with their local committee.

Schools are also encouraged to host a National Science Week event in 2010, and grants will be available through the Australian Science Teachers Association soon in 2010.
